Fashion guru Tim Gunn visits Illinois

Garment sewers and designers recognize Tim Gunn wherever he goes. Tim is the co-host of TV’s most popular fashion focused reality television sewing program, Project Runway. The seven-time Emmy nominated series Project Runway provides budding designers with an opportunity to launch their careers in fashion. Tim hosted a fashion show in Orland Square, IL, before a standing-room only crowd of some 300 admirers, one of which was Mary Jensen of Morris, IL.

Mary, owner of Jensen’s Vac & Sew in Morris, IL, and her niece, Connie Troch, both avid sewers, hand select the quality sewing machines that are offered for sale at their retail stores, Jensen’s Vac & Sew (in Morris) and The Sewing Store (in Joliet, IL). Both stores have been owned and operated by Mary and her husband Larry since 1992.

“We have had a strong focus on garment sewing and creativity,” Mary said. “Our stores sell machines for every level of sewing and offer classes for everyone. We enjoy helping our customers find their creative niche and express themselves through the art of sewing.”

Mary’s niece Connie added, ”Thanks to our loyal customer base, we have been able to expand our fine line of quality machines and accessories. In 2000 my aunt and uncle opened a store in Joliet and continue to expand the brands that we have to offer. We keep updated with sewing technology by attending regular trainings and certification classes.”
