Al Rose, born and raised in New York City, began his career in the sewing machine industry in 1946. He represented Empire Sewing Machine Company out of New York City, and primarily sold rebuilt sewing machines. In 1951 Al started Allyn Distributing Company, and sold Necchi sewing machines on a regional territorial level mainly in Colorado, Nebraska and New Mexico.
In 1964 Allyn Distributing Company expanded. Allyn Distributing was now able to import Necchi sewing machines directly from Pavia Italy. In 1970 Allyn Distributing Company was appointed the national representative of Necchi sewing machines. Allyn International became the exclusive importer and distributor for Necchi in the United States and Canada in 1980. In 1982 a license agreement was completed with Necchi S.p.A. whereby Allyn International would import the Necchi machine directly from Japan and Taiwan. That same agreement is still current and Allyn International continues to be a major influence in the sewing machine industry.
