Art J. Ritthaler
Sewing Center Supply Company
1927 -

Art Ritthaler, founder of the Sewing Center Supply Company in Portland, Oregon, has dedicated more than 35 years of his life to independent sewing machine dealers. Art is universally known for his integrity, honesty and fairness and is highly respected by the dealers he has served, as well as other sewing industry suppliers.

After serving in the Marine Corps during WWII and gaining a degree in business administration from Lewis & Clark College, Art started Sewing Center Supply in 1960. Shortly after, he was named one of the first distributors for the New Home Sewing Machine Company after its purchase by the Janome Corporation.

Since founding his company, Art has been one of the strongest industry supporters of the independent sewing machine dealer. Over the years, he has helped thousands of independent dealers just getting started in the business — sharing his experience and product knowledge, and even extending credit to new dealers, who otherwise may never have gotten started in the sewing machine industry. Hundreds of dealers throughout the United States have thanked Art for his willingness to help them get started.

Art’s service and dedication to sewing machine dealers has earned him not only business success, but also the respect and admiration of the industry.
