Ray Queen photoWhen it came to representing the independent sewing machine retailer, Ray Queen was 100% dedicated. Ray entered the sewing industry in 1968 as a Singer salesperson. He worked for the Singer Company in various roles for 13 years before moving to Bernina. Ray worked for Bernina for 14 years. Before his career at Tacony Corporation, he worked to establish set in programs with dealers in House of Fabrics stores. Later joining Tacony with the Elna brand, Ray kept the dealer channel as strong as possible until the brand was later sold. During his 45 years in the industry, Ray saw many changes such as a shift from direct mailers to email and a more tech savvy customer. With every industry change, Ray made sure his team was prepared to support the independent retailers.

Ray was familiar with many aspects of the industry. He held positions as Outside Sales, Assistant Manager, Manager, District Manager, Regional Manager, Director of New Business, President of Elna USA, and Vice President/Chief Sales Officer of Baby Lock USA. In every position, Ray was innovative and creative. Ray knew how to motivate his teams through industry changes, and he encouraged them to push beyond each sales goal. Over time, Ray received awards and recognition for Top District Sales, Management Leadership, District Leadership, Exceeding Sales Goals, and more. He always tried to remember who the customer was and provide outstanding support. Ray believed that helping the people he worked with achieve their goals and develop their businesses was the most important contribution he could make to the industry.

In addition to helping others in the industry, Ray received recognition for support of Courageous Kids, a camp for special needs children. Coordinating with Baby Lock USA, Ray worked with the camp on special projects to improve the experience for the kids.

Ray retired in 2013 as the Vice President of Sales for Baby Lock, a Tacony Company. At home in St. Louis, Missouri, Ray spends time with his wife, Pam. They've been married for 44 years and are the proud parents of three and grandparents of seven. Although he is retired, Ray's impact on many independent retailers will last for years to come.
