Dave Knoblauch learned about sewing at an early age, growing up on his parents’ farm in Kansas. With the exception of a few years in the U.S. Army, where he obtained the rank of master sergeant, Dave has been in the sewing machine retail business all his adult life. He began selling sewing machines and vacuum cleaners for the Atlas Sewing and Vacuum Centers in 1958 at the age of 18 and was their top salesman in Kansas in less than four weeks. After moving to Midwest Sewing and Vacuum Center in Kansas, he became their top salesman for 10 straight years. Dave then started his own sewing and vacuum dealership in Des Moines, Iowa.
Dave’s sales expertise and years of experience have made Metro Sales and Service a successful sewing and vacuum store. His commitment to serve the customer, offer quality products and provide expert repair service has put his business a cut above the rest.
The success and experience Dave has gained over his career is of great benefit to others in the industry. For many years, Dave has spent several thousands of hours training sewing and vacuum cleaner dealers and salespeople. Through seminars at VDTA conventions, Dave has trained over 1,200 people on giving first-class demonstrations, providing top quality repair service, and how to build value and close a sale without cutting price. Dave often receives calls from dealers he has trained throughout the country asking for his advice or help in solving a problem. True to his quality service philosophy, Dave is happy to help.
Personally Dave has been as successful and giving as he has in business. He and his wife Carol have been married for 32 years and have three children and a grandson. Dave has received nearly every award available from the Dale Carnegie public relations, sales and management courses. He has held every office possible in the Knights of Columbus, the highest being Admiral of the Fourth degree. He is also a past president of the Lions Club.
