Tom D. GodwinTom D. Godwin has served in the floor care industry in several capacities for over 30 years. He has served with four major floor care manufacturers, in each case leading that company to substantial sales increases. Tom has spent much of his career training and challenging staff, as well as dealers to be the best they can be. He moved into upper management positions very quickly as a result. In 1973, Tom’s first year with the Regina Company, he was responsible for a 300 percent sales increase in the Northern California market. He eventually went on to manage a seven state territory, consisting of both independent and mass merchandise retailers. Tom was instrumental in introducing two new product categories to our industry, the “Steemer” and “Powerteam” while with Regina.

Tom moved on and began working with Royal Appliance, where he was responsible for 485 dealer accounts, including two of the nation’s largest. He introduced the Dirt Devil product name to all classes of trade. Next, Tom worked for Koblenz Manufacturing where he once again delivered substantial sales growth, as well as numerous design improvements to products.

Currently, Tom is with Riccar America, as Western Region Sales Manager. He travels over half of the country, training dealers and staff in the successful marketing of Riccar vacuums. His knowledge, boundless energy, and enthusiasm for our industry are an inspiration to everyone that he visits. Tom has made a difference in the success of many vacuum dealers’ stores. He is always encouraging and helping them trade information that will make everyone more successful. Tom is a tireless promoter of the vacuum industry. His ideas have altered the direction to the industry, changing both manufacturers and independent dealers. His enthusiasm for designing vacuum products and the sale of those products is a profound statement as to the direction of this industry.
