Phillip A. Geier
The P. A. Geier Company was founded as a contract machine shop in 1905. By 1908 they had entered the small electric manufacturing market with a vibrator and hair dryers. In 1910, Geier expanded his line to include vacuum cleaners. By the start of the Second World War, the company had grown to one of the largest in the industry, employing more than 400 persons, and gross annual sales of more then $3,500,000.00. In 1935 Geier resigned the presidency to become chairman of the board and treasurer. Geier was known to be very idealistic, fair, and businesslike in his dealings. He served on numerous boards of banks, financial institutions, manufacturers, and was honorary admiral of the flagship fleet of American Airlines.
