Don Edwards photoDon Edwards was born September 29, 1943 in Wawaka, Indiana, a small town in northern Indiana, skirting the Amish community. Don started with the Singer Company in 1967 as a field Auditor. After a short time on the job he found the sales field was where his heart truly was and asked to be transferred to the sales division of Singer. Don was placed in Kokomo, Indiana as the Singer Store Manager. Don's skills placed this store as a top location for The Singer Company. In 1975 Don took a promotion to Cincinnati, Ohio and became the Cincinnati Regional Office manager under the Direction of Jim Pettjohn.

Don excelled in this position and when the Cincinnati Region was changed to the Great Lakes Region he was promoted to Singer Service Center Manager, in Indianapolis Indiana.

Retail sales were still where Don wanted to be, and he asked to be placed back into the sales division. Don was promoted to Kokomo, Indiana again as store manager. Don won many sales promotions and trips through the Singer Company at this store location. Don took another promotion to manage the Glenbrook Singer store in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, again turning this location in to a leading store in his district.

Don Edwards was very successful for years with Singer and on May 1st, 1983 opened his store, Edwards Sewing Center. Don was very dedicated to taking care of all his customers and his business continued to grow. In 1990 Don started selling the Janome/New Home line of Machines. Edwards Sewing Center excelled opening up a path of success that would be hard to match by anyone, placing his store on the map as one of the top 25 dealers in the USA for Janome and took honors as being a top 10 dealer in the USA before retiring.

Don loved to come back to the store and help his daughter when needed.

Don Edwards passed away on November 7, 2011 from cancer, with his family at his side. Don will be missed so very much, by all that knew him for his honesty, kindness, selling skills, and humor. The drive to be number one in whatever he did from winning store performance to golf, even rooting for the Yankee's he did it with style.

Don will always be in our thoughts and the hearts of all his friends forever.
