In 1919, Jim Cole joined Domestic Electric, a then recently organized Cleveland Company later to be known as Ametek - Lamb Electric. After working each product line, Jim became the Company's first troubleshooter, then head of research. It was in this latter capacity that Jim later distinguished himself as “father” of the small vacuum cleaner motor which was the predecessor to the many thousands of similar motors Lamb Electric builds every day.
During his 40 years with the company, Jim obtained 13 patents and was cited for being “largely responsible for the fantastic success of Lamb Electric's VAC products,” which today are sold all over the world.
