Steve's Sewing Quilting Vacuum Appliance
Steve Chubin got his start in the sewing industry at the tender age of 10 when his budding entrepreneurial prowess merged with his interest in the family sewing machine. Soon he was sewing hems for his 7 sisters, at 15-cents a hem. Thousands of hems later, in 1992, he started his store which has arguably become the best-known store in his region specializing in sewing, quilting, vacuums, and high-end kitchen appliances. His philosophy? "It's not really about making money, it's about building relationships." He firmly believes that if he takes good care of his friends (his customers and staff) the bottom line will pretty much take care of itself. And judging from the remarks of others, he truly "walks the talk."
"Customers can visit his very busy classrooms or hang out in his state-of-the-art kitchen… Steve's is not only the place to be, but it's the only place you actually enjoy spending money! You haven't shopped until you've experienced Steve's." Tano G., Baby Lock, Flanders, NJ
"When I started ConKerr Cancer, I grew to love Steve for his generosity, his commitment to our mission of serving children with cancer, and his very loving heart… He has donated machines, provides free repairs, and opens his store to volunteers." Cindy K., Conkerr Cancer, Wayne, PA
"What impresses me is that, with the economy taking a plunge and sewing-related stores closing, Steve took a leap of faith to expand his business (2010). I watched with amazement as he personally transformed a rundown building into a beautiful store (over 10,000 sq. ft., with state-of-the-art sewing and floor care showrooms, a beautiful kitchen appliance center, and 3 impressive classrooms). I believe he did this more for his customers and employees than he did for himself. His dedication to us is truly inspiring… He has provided both staff and customers a comfortable and fun place to work, shop and play." Pamela L., Pamela's Patterns, Prospect Park, PA
"I found Steve's store to be the Disneyland for sewers! … You always leave with a smile." Susan P., Gwynedd Valley, PA
Steve's philosophy and integrity have paid off. In 2011, Steve was honored with receiving the First Annual Small Retailer of the Year Award from the King of Prussia Business Improvement District. But most importantly Steve is gratified with the fact that his customers feel assured that they'll get a good honest deal, and enjoy their visit. No wonder the store has become known as a kind of "community center" for all things sewing, quilting, cooking, vacuuming, and so much more.
Beyond business, Steve and his wife, Karen, have 3 wonderful children.
