Thomas L. Bridges
Tom Bridges was a visionary force in the sewing machine industry. Over his 33 year career, he helped lead the Tacony Corporation from a small retail shop, to one of the leading wholesale suppliers in the sewing machine business.
Tom began his career in 1954, working at Central Sewing Machine Company in East St. Louis, Illinois. He joined Tacony in 1959. Over the next 32 years, his dedication, leadership and vision helped to strengthen the company and the entire sewing industry. His influence has enriched the lives of the dealers, suppliers and other associates he encountered during his distinguished career.
Perhaps Tom’s greatest contribution to the sewing industry was his pioneering efforts in the serger business. He was one of the first to recognize the value of the home serger. His untiring efforts to establish a market for sergers created an entire new industry.
One of Tacony’s most dedicated and loyal associates, Tom retired in December 1991 and remains one of the most respected leaders in the sewing machine industry.
