Paul R. Bishop
Paul graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was later commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army as an Army Intelligence Officer. He went on to earn a Juris Doctorate from the University of Akron and currently sits as a member of the Stark County (OH), State of Ohio, and American Bar Associations.
Paul is also an Emeritus Trustee of the University of Mount Union, a member of the Board of Trustees for the United Way Foundation of Central Stark County, and a board member for the Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education. In addition to these undertakings, Paul has served as the International President of the Young Presidents' Organization, the Assistant Director of Competition for Boxing in the 1984 Olympics, the chairman of several community fundraising drives, and a member of the Board of Trustees for Northeast Ohio Medical University. He also serves on the Advisory Board for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
For the vacuum and sewing industry, Paul has helped facilitate the legitimacy of central vacuum systems. Focusing H-P Products' resources in support of this activity, he has ensured the continued relevancy of central cleaning systems throughout all aspects of the floor-care market. With Paul's bold and visionary leadership, H-P Products has also played a key role in the activities of the F11 Vacuum Cleaner ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials). ASTM F11 has developed more than 10 standards related directly to the central vacuum system (including filtration efficiency, cleanability, and durability) and contributes to the integrity and respectability of central vacuum systems.
Peter Pavlick of Ametek maintains that while Paul has advanced the industry immeasurably, "[He] most often stands in the background." Today, with Pavlick's nomination and several others, Paul's efforts shine in the spotlight of success. Through the course of his leadership of H-P Products, he has established a family-like culture that permeates his entire organization and flows from suppliers, employees, dealers, and distributors to the firm's customers. Paul's support for innovation and service – in the community and in his business – is fully recognized today.
