Koblenz designs, manufactures, and markets domestic and commercial floor care products, washing machines and power protection equipment.
The company was founded in 1959. The company started manufacturing voltage regulators and soon developed diverse product lines, including commercial and domestic floor care machines, vacuum cleaners, and washers. In 1959, Koblenz started operations in a 3,000 square foot facility with approximately 50 employees. The company steadily grew to its current size of over 2,000 employees, including a complete research and development engineering staff, state-of-the-art laboratories, and prototype facilities, operating in two major manufacturing plants of over 250,000 square feet.
Koblenz currently sells to over 27 countries around the world. The main export markets are Mexico, South America and Europe. Marketing and new product development customized to meet specific market needs have been a key factor to the company’s growth for over 46 years.
Research and development, including manufacturing engineering, is carried out by a group of over 100 engineers and technicians located at the main plant. Since 1959 when the first voltage regulator was manufactured, Koblenz has introduced numerous engineering and design innovations and has many patents to its credit.
Walter Kohler, industrial engineer, is the founder and chairman of the board, while Richard Kohler, also an industrial engineer, is vice president and managing director.
In the U.S., Koblenz products are distributed exclusively by Thorne Electric Company located in San Antonio, TX. Order processing, product and parts inventory, shipping , customer and technical services are provided through this facility. Michele Folks is branch manager at Thorne Electric.
