Lindsay Manufacturing, Inc.

Lindsay Manufacturing, Inc. (LMI) was originally formed in 1956 as Thermodynamics, Inc., a manufacturer of heat exchangers. In 1960, it became Vacu-Maid, Inc. reflecting its commitment to the manufacture of central vacuum systems. Throughout the 1960s and 70s Vacu-Maid obtained several patents and helped to pioneer the central vacuum industry. During this time products were sold under the trade names Vacu-Maid and AstroVac.

From its Ponca City, OK, facility, Vacu-Maid developed strong sales along the east coast and began to sell products into Canada. By the late 70s, the company had expanded its operation with a solid distributor network throughout the United States and also started to increase sales in several European countries and Australia.

The manufacturing base was continually expanded and improved. In 1987, the company changed its name to Lindsay Manufacturing, Inc. (LMI) to accurately reflect its role as a manufacturer. The company is, today, still a true manufacturer – processing galvannealed coiled steel into the familiar central vacuum cans; washing, drying, powder coating, and baking the cans before assembling with electrical motors and components, prior to packaging.

Today, LMI also manufactures a range of intercom systems under the name AudioTech and is the North American distribution center for Valet System One intercoms. Operating from its 150,000-square-foot main facility in Ponca City, the company also has a distribution warehouse in Roanoke, VA, and sales office and warehouse in Dallas, TX. LMI manufactures and sells products under the trade names AstroVac®, Vacu-Maid®, SilentPartner®, VacZoom®, Dust Mate™, SuperGroom®, AudioTech®, and Valet®.

Currently, the company’s products are exported to more than 20 countries worldwide. The strongest overseas markets are Europe, Canada, and Australia with other customers as widespread as South America, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
Constantly improving and developing new products, LMI intends to remain a world leader in the central vacuum and intercom fields by increasing export sales and opening new markets for its products in the United States and abroad.

LMI is looking for motivated, professional dealers in select markets. If you are interested or would like more information, contact Jeff Simonsen at 1-480-503-1759, Marty Laska at 1-440-785-1434, or send an e-mail to lindsay@fullnet.net.
