Everyone who has carpet needs to clean it. Some people prefer to call a cleaning service, but many prefer to rent a machine. For those do-it-yourselfers who don’t want to worry about chemical mixing, mold and dust mites, or wet carpets, Racine Industries, Inc. manufactures the world-famous HOSTä Dry Carpet Cleaning System. Customers can say good-bye to the mess of hot water extraction!
Racine Industries was established in 1935 by H.D. Rench. In the 1030s, Mr. Rench got involved with the Bigelow/Sanford Company in a patent pool that resulted in the first dry carpet cleaning product. Carpet mills at the time needed a way to clean oil and dirt from their new carpets after the manufacturing process and wet cleaning was unacceptable. This new dry cleaning product, Powderene, was the perfect solution. Very quickly, the use of the product spread from the carpet mills to the public. Over time, the product evolved into a less powdery one with a broader range of dirt-trapping capabilities, and in 1956, HOST® was born.
HOST can be used with a machine in larger areas, so commercial use blossomed in addition to use in homes. HOST continues to evolve and can be used on any type of carpet, including natural fibers such as wool and sisal. Since 1978, Racine Industries has been running a training facility for dealers, distributors, professional cleaners and other interested parties who come from all over the world to learn about carpet and how to clean it.
The HOST Dry Carpet Cleaning System consists of the HOST machine, the cleaning product, and the customer’s own vacuum. The HOST machine brushes the HOST Dry Carpet Cleaner through the carpet, lifting the pile as it goes. The Dry Carpet Cleaner acts like a sponge, absorbing and trapping dirt, allergens, and odors so that they may be simply vacuumed away when dry (perhaps in an hour, usually less). Customers are left with clean, dry carpet that is ready to use!
The HOST System is safe for all carpets. In fact, HOST carries the WoolSafe seal of approval. No worries about damage from shrinkage, over wetting, mold and mildew…or damage to hardwood floors. Remove the handle from the HOST machine, and cleaning stairs with the counter-rotating brushes is easy, too.
Many customers are concerned about allergies… research studies have shown that one cleaning with the HOST System using the HOST Machine reduces dust mites by 78 percent, dust mite allergens by 75 percent, cat allergens by 85 percent and mold spores by 85 percent. (EPA Establishment Number: 074202-WI-001.) HOST Dry Carpet Cleaner is non-toxic, not dusty like a powder, and is the only carpet cleaner to be certified by the USDA as Biobased.
Racine Industries, Inc. invented and began making the HOST System over 50 years ago. Since then, people all over the world have been overjoyed at having a dry option for their carpet cleaning.
